Context
A national grocery retailer was developing a loyalty experience that needed to feel coherent wherever customers encountered it. The work extended beyond a single campaign. It connected early customer listening with journey design, lifecycle communications, and the website and app experiences that would carry the program into everyday use.
The assignment called for careful coordination across a broad team. Customer perspectives, business priorities, creative ideas, technical requirements, and channel decisions all had to move together. Claire contributed as part of the agency account team supporting the program from discovery through launch.
Claire’s contribution
Claire helped translate an evolving set of inputs into work the team could act on. She connected client objectives and audience needs to briefs, deliverables, reviews, and launch planning. Her responsibilities included maintaining visibility across the work, helping teams resolve dependencies, and keeping each touchpoint connected to the larger customer journey.
Her role was one part of a multidisciplinary effort. Strategy, creative, UX, analytics, technology, and client partners brought their own expertise to the experience. Claire’s contribution was to help those disciplines stay aligned while the program moved from learning and design into execution.
Approach
The team began with customer workshops and focus groups, using those conversations as an input to the shape of the experience. From there, the work moved into journey design: considering how people would enter the program, recognize its value, and continue engaging over time.
That journey informed a connected set of communications and experiences. The program included welcome and birthday messaging, abandoned-cart outreach, rewards summaries, and supporting moments across the website, app, and push channels. Claire helped organize briefs and feedback around those pieces so they were treated as parts of one system rather than isolated deliverables.
As launch approached, the account team coordinated review, approval, quality, and readiness work with the specialists responsible for each channel. The emphasis remained on clarity: who needed to make a decision, what another team needed next, and how an individual execution served the broader experience.
Collaboration and outcome
The result was a launched loyalty experience spanning communications and digital touchpoints. It reflected a shared effort by the retailer and the agency team, with customer listening carried forward into journey and execution decisions.
Claire’s value in the work was connective. She helped turn a complex, cross-functional program into an understandable path from customer input to coordinated delivery, while preserving the contributions and accountability of the specialists around her.
Reflection
Loyalty work becomes more useful when the operating process mirrors the intended customer experience. A connected journey requires a connected team: shared context, clear ownership, and regular decisions across disciplines. Claire continues to bring that principle to lifecycle and customer-engagement programs—start with the customer need, then create the conditions for the team to deliver against it together.
